As an Associate General Counsel, you will play a key role in the continued growth of the company and support strategic initiatives. The Associate General Counsel will support others on the legal team and assist with the drafting, reviewing, and negotiating, of various corporate agreements and be responsible for improving the legal department’s processes.
This role requires you to be on-site at our headquarters in McLean, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal teams regarding business and legal issues and risks;
- Draft, analyze, and negotiate contracts involving vendors; represent the company with respect to vendor and client contracting;
- Assist in implementing legal efficiencies to support the organization’s contract processes and operations;
- Build and improve contract templates and provide internal training to teams contracting process;
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies and work with various business areas to strengthen and improve systems and processes;
- Develop clear and accurate legal documents consistent with internal policies;
- Able to quickly understand and advise on complex legal matters
- Provide advice and counsel in the development of policy and strategy to address a wide range of issues related to health care administration, management and operations;
- Stay up-to-date and keep functional teams advised on laws and regulations dealing with health care, employment, privacy, etc., in order to better support business operations.

Qualifications:Required
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school;
- An active license to practice law in any state;
- Minimum of 2 years of law firm experience
- Minimum of 2 years of in-house experience (related to health care)
- Strong legal research, writing and editing skills;
- Results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency and good time- and people-management skills;
- Flexible, able to handle, prioritize and follow through numerous projects simultaneously;
- Ability to balance legal risk with business needs and convey legal advice clearly and effectively to non-legal colleagues;
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to build trust and collaboration with team members and dedicated to producing high quality work;
- Ability to thrive in a changing, fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Broad experience with a variety of legal matters, including health care, corporate, commercial contract negotiation, employment, corporate governance, and/or intellectual property;
- Experience with independently drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements; and
- Experience working with physician groups or on merger, acquisition, and joint venture arrangements
