Position Overview
As anAssociate,ReliabilityCompliance(Electrical Engineer)you will support Invenergy’s Reliability Compliance program for the entire Invenergy fleet with an emphasis on electricity generation regulatory requirements (NERC, ERCOT,PJM,& IESO) associatedreal time operationsand modeling. Based out of our downtown Chicago office, the AssociateReliability Compliancewill use their engineeringexpertise, technical writing, and critical thinking to complete the job responsibilities with limited managerial oversight.
Responsibilities
Activelyparticipatein real time operational compliance monitoring activities supporting thermal and renewable technologies
Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturers specifications
Responsible for providing technical interpretation and guidance on engineering studiesandmodeling
Review relay coordination studies and provide feedback and ensure compliance with NERC Standard(s) is met
Partner with internal groups (Engineering, Operations, and Asset Management) to communicate changes or updates that require action by the projects.
Conduct ad hoc independent research on industry trends and rules
Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls
Perform otherjob-relatedduties as assigned
Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline
3+ years of direct Electrical Engineering Experience
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
3+ years of relevant compliance experience
Prior knowledge of applicable NERC, ERCOT, & IESO standards
Willingness to travel between 5-10%
Critical thinking skills with the ability toidentifyand solve complex problems with limited managerial oversight
Demonstrated project management skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines
Excellent organizational, presentation/facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products,SharePointand Adobe Acrobat
Prior ExperiencewithTechnical Engineering work,working at a Utility,and/or knowledge ofrenewable power systems.
Prior experience working within the modeling group and/or Relay Design team.
