Job Responsibilities
Typical roles and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, continuous monitoring, and refining of protocols, data collection, and data analysis to ensure efficient operation of SAP, Airsweb, SilentPassenger, and other business systems in support of Transmission and Distribution Services' (NERC/CIP, Environmental, Safety, Transportation and Materials & Logistics) and company objectives. The position specifically mines and collects data, performs data analysis, performs benchmarking, and uses analysis to identify performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
Typical roles and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Perform business analytics including cost benefit analysis, operational efficiencies, and staffing studies; design, build and maintain business reports including business and program scorecards; and function as a business systems expert in SAP, Airsweb, SilentPassenger, and other business applications. Provide analytical support on special project teams and safety councils. Participate on six sigma teams.
Design, build, distribute and refine various operations reports required for regulatory compliance and corporate polices/initiatives, ensuring regulators such as New York state, the Federal government, the Long Island Power Authority, and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant policies, processes and programs.
Develop, implement, continually monitor and refine the administrative processes required for the efficient, timely and regulatory/contractually compliant flow of information and, ensuring data integrity as well as compliance with regulatory and corporate policies.
Develop, implement, continually monitor and refine business metrics in compliance with regulatory and corporate policies/initiatives. Based on analysis of metrics, work with all areas to determine ways of increasing efficiencies. Develop and implement initiatives to track and achieve efficiencies.
Support in the transportation group in optimizing the fleet replacement plan aimed at maximizing unit availability & efficiency, minimizing overall costs and meeting fiscal budget targets.
Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, presentations, documents, and Tableau data visualization files etc.
Perform data quality assurance and integrity.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information.
Interfaces personally with both internal customers such as directors, managers, co-workers, and union personnel, and external customers, such as vendors and business partners, on all transportation matters.

Job Specific Qualifications
Required Education, Competencies and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in Business, Statistics, Finance or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated organization skills and high level of analytical and quantitative analysis skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Products, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new approaches with applicable tools to measure success.
- Must be detail oriented and able to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work across department boundaries.
- Must have and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license and a safe driver history
Desired Skills:
- Detailed working knowledge of SAP systems including human resources and material management with an emphasis in work management.
- MBA or progress towards one.
- Two to three years’ experience in Transportation, Material and Logistics, and/or Safety administration/operations.
- Experience with Airsweb, SilentPassenger, Sharepoint and/or Tableau
- Experience in data mining, database development, or programming.
