About the Job
Under managerial direction, the selected candidate(s) will provide support with an emphasis on work performed by a third-party contractor during construction and design, including the following:
Review and assess contractor submittals.
Review and ensure that contractors are following Contract Documents.
Review and recommend changes to contracts and prepare necessary amendments in contract documents.
Oversee all documents submitted from contractor for Management approval.
Prepare project-related correspondence from award through closeout and assist with uploading in ASITE.
Provide assistance to Design and Construction Manager as needed.
Ensure all contract works are following Contract Documents.
Prepare monthly reports on progress of assigned projects, to include schedules and costs spreadsheets, and perform analysis on same.
Inspect work sites, monitor project schedules and check project plans and drawings.
Review project records documenting field progress, field conditions, equipment use and corrective actions.
Assist in the preparation of estimates and budgets.
Review project specifications for accuracy.
Review technical reports from contractor/PMC.
Complete regulatory documents concerning safety issues.
Assist in coordination between consultants, external agencies and contractors.
Coordinate all administrative works that include processing and reviewing contractors'/consultants' progress payments.
Perform varies duties deemed necessary by the Chief Project Executive Officer.
A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, architectural technology, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience OR A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience
One to five years' full time satisfactory experience (see above for combination with education) performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating or expediting on engineering projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $l million or more. (Two to six years of experience for level II).
OSHA-30 and 8-hour Lead Awareness Course
Bachelor of Engineering Degree preferred.
Ability to read and interpret Contract drawings & specifications.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards preferred.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Word, Access and Excel. CADD experience is desirable but not required.
The ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and verbal skills.
Organize project information, prepare reports and presentations and interact/communicate with contractors and other NYCT departments.
Knowledge and/or experience with capital construction procedures and field operations.
Knowledge and/or experience with construction scheduling and estimating.
In depth knowledge and/or experience with NYCT/MTA C&D operations and mass-transit facilities preferable.
The ability to coordinate with a multitude of users such as operations and engineering personnel.
