Associate Relations Investigator
The Associate Relations Investigator is an experienced investigator who is responsible for the entire investigation process to include thorough planning, interviewing, discovery, and writing reports for elevated matters in human resources such as discrimination, harassment, substance abuse, retaliation, and workplace violence.
Interaction:
- Reports directly to Sr Director of Human Resources & Benefits
- Member of the Associate Relations and Compliance Team
- Extensive interaction with all Regional and District Managers
- Close working relationship with the HR Department
- Some interaction with various associates throughout the company to include: Payroll, Risk Management, Guest Services, and other corporate center departments
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigation of elevated human resources related concerns raised through the SpeakUp Hotline or through direct reporting, to include but not limited to: discrimination, harassment, substance abuse, retaliation, wage & hour, and workplace violence.
- Provides guidance on appropriate resolution of reported cases, including the assessment of severity in alignment with current policies and procedures.
- Consults with regional and district management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Interprets and educates on HR policies and provides advice on counseling on such policies as necessary.
- Evaluates and promotes continuous improvement of HR processes.
- Conducts effective, thorough, and objective employee relations investigations.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of associates, reducing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Works closely with field management to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Conducts associate surveys when necessary and provides consult and guidance on results.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Must have adequate vision, speech, hearing and physical ability to perform essential job duties.
- Must have full body rotation (i.e., bending, stooping, twisting, etc.)
- Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree –or- equivalent experience required.
- CFI Certification preferred (Wicklander Zulawski)
- HR Certification preferred (SHRM, HRCI).
- Minimum of 3 years of investigations experience required, preferably in human resources.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency with common office tools such as MS Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of state and federal labor/employment law.
- Well-developed judgement and communication (written and verbal).
- Ability to develop professional relationships and credibility with line management.
- Well-developed influencing skills.
