The Associate Scientist will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory operations for a large group of scientists that advance molecules in clinical development as well as commercial products. The ideal candidate should be excited by the opportunity to make a difference to patients' lives through the development of new biologics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Bioassay Methods Development (BMD) laboratory operations are compliant and meet scientific rigor requirements. This includes coordinating with internal and external service teams and service providers as well as hosting as needed.
- Provide guidance to BMD equipment owners on equipment management procedures as needed. Provide timely support to equipment owners to complete equipment onboarding, routine maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Serve as a system owner of chambers (freezers, refrigerators, incubators) and small equipment such as pipettes, balances, centrifuges, etc. Complete tasks within the system owner's scope of responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance and general housekeeping tidiness of the BMD laboratories and follow up with responsible individuals to address QA findings in walkthroughs.
- Provide routine updates to BMD management and lab managers. Frequently solicit feedback from BMD scientists for improvement opportunities.
- This candidate will be a member of the AD Lab Operations team. Responsibilities include driving certain operational initiatives, escalating BMD operation challenges to the AD Lab Operations team, and communicating updates to BMD on AD Lab Operations team activities.
- Improve overall lab operation efficiency and lead continuous improvement efforts.
- A minimum of bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or other relevant scientific field, with a minimum of 2-4 years of industry experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of industry experience or relevant academic experience.
Required:
- Experience with driving the completion of lab operation activities in a timely matter is required.
- Familiar with various aspects of lab operation activities including (but not limited to) equipment onboarding, instrument preventive maintenance, calibration and qualification; sample management, sample storage shipping logistics; freezer/chamber management; lab safety and lab tidiness.
- Be able to closely track multiple lab operation activities in an organized and timely manner to ensure excellent execution.
- Be able to coordinate with internal and external service teams, service providers, Quality, and scientists to ensure lab operation activities executed efficiently to completion.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced and complex environment.
- The ability to communicate ideas and influence others is essential. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills are required.
- Experience with GxP compliance is required.
- Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks is preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams in a matrix environment is preferred.
