Location: Skillman, NJ with a move to Summit, NJ in or around early 2025.

What You Will Do
The associate scientist will support regional and global projects for Sun Care products and will be responsible for new product formulation, process development and scale-up activities to execute time-bound projects. The candidate will also support the technical modeling and measurements of prototypes to establish in-vitro efficacy. This candidate will rely on technical skills to execute hands-on experimentation, and will need to incorporate consumer, category, and business insights to deliver business goals. Strong communication skills together with the ability to manage complexity are must-have prerequisites.
Key Responsibilities
• Formulate and develop sunscreen prototype and establish technical expertise in the Sun Care formulation field.
• Develop and execute in-vitro testing methodologies and analytical procedures to aid the technical decision making.
• Build exploratory DOEs, execute stability, efficacy, and consumer evaluation.
• Plan and support documentation and execution of GMP pilots and trials, and related clinical testing.
• Collaborate with other scientists and research teams to advance scientific knowledge and understanding.
• Collaborate with project teams (Packaging, Manufacturing, Marketing, Project Management, Claims, Consumer Science, Safety, Tox, Micro, Analytical, Sourcing, Raw Material Center, etc) to ensure all project deliverables are met and on-time.
• Attend and provide active input to project meetings and project related documentation.
• Collaborate with suppliers to bring in new technologies.
• Competently handle day-to-day work challenges and adapt to changes in the work environment.
The scope of work will include:
• Product and process development/process scale-up
• Identification of critical process parameters at the lab, pilot, and full manufacturing scales
• Product/process specification development
• Executing the technical aspects of projects
• Interacting with cross-functional teams to implement timely new product introductions
• Troubleshooting product issues under tight and sometimes compressed timelines
What We Are Looking For
Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of related experience (academic or industry) is required. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or other related science or engineering subject area is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
• Experience with formulation is preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
• Experience in formulating sunscreens is a plus
• Process development/process scale-up experience is preferred
• Familiarity with cGMP and other regulatory requirements is preferred
