Job Summary:
The Strategic Advisory and Investments Associate is a new position on the team at Emigrant Partners. It will play an important role in the daily support of the direct investments Emigrant makes, as well as the strategic planning work that Emigrant provides to its Partner Firms, which includes some of the largest and most successful independent firms in the wealth and asset management industries.
Specifically, Emigrant Partners is looking for an individual who can create leverage for both our Investments and Advisory functions. We are searching for a motivated individual with strong communication skills who can provide direct support on our investment and deal processes, and has training in both deal modelling and analytics. In addition, the ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and have the ability to work with our Partner Firms on a wide range of growth-oriented strategic planning projects. The ideal candidate will have the ability to combine strong analytical skills with a problem-solving, consultative mindset, and be able to present solutions that will drive growth for Emigrant's Partners Firms.
This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative individual to gain exposure to both the deal process and direct engagements with Partner Firms – and ultimately more closely integrate the workflows of both teams.
Critical Skills & Key Attributes:
- Financial Modelling and Analytics: Candidate must have investment banking experience and the ability to help the EP Investment team assess direct opportunities, as well as Partner Firm sub-acquisitions. An ability to identify and dissect the drivers of growth and value in the wealth and asset management industries is critical.
- Strategic & Entrepreneurial Mindset: The ability to help identify new growth opportunities and operational improvements for Emigrant's Partner Firms – coupled with the ability to understand the unique requirements of high-growth, entrepreneurial businesses.
- Connected Thinker: Ability to see and understand macro-level industry trends and translate into micro-level opportunities and considerations for Emigrant's Partner Firms.
- Industrious & Resourceful: Ability to use research and data from a range of external sources to inform the Investment and Strategic Advisory process is crucial.
- Independent, Yet Integrated: Ability to take initiative, identify and solve problems independently – but knows how to work as part of a team, communicate important information to senior leaders, and is motivated to make others more successful.
- Results-Driven: Understands goals and objectives, as well as the specific Key Performance Indicators that directly translate to success. Knows how to use KPIs as a "North Star" to drive consulting work and recommendations.
- People-Driven & Intellectually Curious: Ability to build trust and strong relationships with Emigrant team and Partner Firms; possesses strong listening skills and ability to ask the right questions.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of Emigrant's Investment team throughout the prospecting, deal analysis, and negotiation processes
- Conducting valuations, building financial models
- Support Strategic Advisory team on consulting and Partner Firm engagements
- Develop modules and proprietary research needed to educate Partner Firms
- Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives that will improve the deal pipeline and workflows
Qualifications:
- Two-to-five years of investment banking experience, exposure to wealth management
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field, such as finance, economics or statistics
- Quantitative background and a proven ability to perform analysis preferred
- Experience using MS Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
