As an Associate Surveyor, you will play a vital role in land surveying, assisting in various surveying projects and tasks. You will work closely with senior surveyors and professionals to collect, analyze, and interpret spatial data to support construction, development, mapping, and land management activities.

Responsibilities:
- Surveying: Conduct field surveys using various instruments such as total stations, GPS equipment, and digital levels.
- Data Collection: Gather data on land boundaries, topography, and other geographic features for mapping and property assessment purposes.
- Data Analysis: Process and analyze survey data to create accurate maps, charts, and reports.
- Drafting: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create precise drawings and plans based on survey data.
- Boundary Determination: Assist in defining property boundaries and easements.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of survey activities, including field notes, photographs, and survey reports.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure that survey work complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Quality Control: Verify the accuracy and quality of survey work to minimize errors and discrepancies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Client Communication: Interact with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and provide updates on survey progress.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior surveyors, engineers, and other professionals to support project objectives.
Training: Provide training and mentorship to junior survey technicians and office staff as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Land Surveyor registration certification a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years surveying and mapping experience required
- 3+ years project management experience preferred
- Proficiency in surveying equipment and software, including total stations, GPS devices, and CAD programs.
- Experience in the use of 3D LiDAR Scanning (Static, Mobile, etc.) data registration / extraction
- UAV / UAS operation, data acquisition and data reduction experience a plus
- Must possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills
- Right-of-way mapping and parcel plat drafting..
- Must be proficient in the use of total stations, GPS receivers and data collectors, and GPS reduction software.
- Experience in AutoCAD with demonstrated survey drafting skills required; excellent AutoCAD skills a plus
- Ability to read and understand survey drawings, plans & specifications.
- Knowledge of principles of monumentation, staking and marking.
- Hydrographic surveying experience a plus
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, practices, and regulations.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
- Knowledge of relevant safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Additional Requirements:
- Professional licensure or eligibility for licensure as a surveyor may be required in some jurisdictions.
- Valid driver's license for travel to project sites.
The pay range for this California position is $45.00- $60.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
