KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: + The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Finance provides leadership and oversight of financial management, planning and performance, and organizational and business matters for departments, programs, and activities under the purview of the Provost. + Plans, develops, and coordinates the preparation of analyses and reports including, but not limited to: operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses, and other financial information. + Performs complex and specialized assignments in assigned area of expertise; serves in a lead role to coordinate complex projects. + Provides team leadership and supervision, as appropriate. + In collaboration with the Senior Vice Provost for Strategic Finance and Resource Planning, owns responsibility for financial management, analysis, and reporting for the schools, academic support units, and administrative units under the direction of the Provost including the consolidation of the operating and capital budgets for all schools and academic support units. + Monitors the financial status and performance of schools and units reporting to the Office of the Provost and partners with them to resolve financial issues. + Oversees the annual budget development process for the Office of the Provost and collaborates closely with the IFP Team to develop and execute the university-wide annual budget planning process. + Contributes to making decisions about complex methodologies involving inter-campus relationships and cost allocations, partnering with colleagues where appropriate. + Participates on committees evaluating risk, changes in university policies, etc. Advises the Provost, Senior Vice Provost for Strategic Finance and Resource Planning, and other university leaders on financial decisions which provide capacity to strategically plan and manage finances across all schools, academic support units and administrative units. + Provides regular reporting on financial performance and other topics, as requested. + Evaluates, analyzes, and recommends methods for improving operational efficiency and responsible resource management. + Leads efforts to develop annual tuition and fee plans across all schools that further institutional priorities and fully leverage resources. + Collaborates closely with the Office of Financial Aid, Campus Life and school leadership to ensure these plans balance resource needs with affordability and market position. + Represents the Provost and Senior Vice Provosts in multiple venues, including with external audiences. + Interacts directly with schools and departments and resolves issues raised by deans, department chairs, and financial officers on matters related to finance, analysis, human resources, and other administrative areas. + Partners with units across the university on key strategic financial initiatives and projects. + Works collaboratively with all divisions on matters impacting the Office of the Provost. + Presents financial information to leadership venues, university committees, managers meetings, etc., as appropriate. + Supervises staff including those with financial management and data analysis responsibilities. + Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Master's degree, preferably in business, finance or accounting, and 10 years of progressively responsible experience leading and managing financial and business operations at a research university or an equivalent large, complex organization OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. + CPA preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to establish short- and long-term priorities, interact effectively with a broad diversity of audiences and constituencies, and to develop strategic approaches to problem solving. + Strong analytical, data management and technical skills. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
