Samaritan Health Plans (SHP) provides health insurance options to Samaritan employees, community employers, and Medicare and Medicaid members. SHP operates a portfolio of health plan products under several different legal structures: InterCommunityHealth Plans, Inc. (IHN) is designated as a regional Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) for Medicaid beneficiaries; Samaritan Health Plans, Inc. offers Medicare Advantage, Commercial Large Group, and Commercial Large Group PPO and EPO plans; SHP is also the third-party administrator for Samaritan Health Services’ self-funded employee health benefit plan.
As part of an Integrated Delivery System, Samaritan Health Plans is strategically and operationally aligned with Samaritan Health Services’ mission of Building Healthier Communities Together.
This position is hybrid that will consist of onsite work in Corvallis, OR
- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Provides leadership and direction for Samaritan Health Plan's Health Equity and Member Advocacy Department which includes health equity, social determinants of health (SDOH), and member experience. Develops and maintains key strategic relationships and partnerships with our provider network, including Samaritan Health System, Samaritan Medical Group, providers, community partners, and other key stakeholders. Responsible for engaging with senior leadership in driving collaboration in the organization to develop, implement, and execute a strategic plan, initiatives, and programs to transform SHP’s Health Equity and Advocacy program. Develops and evaluates a variety of programs in collaboration with public and private entities to ensure social determinants of health are met for members and assists in transforming health care at the community level. Ensures that health equity, SDOH, and member experience is incorporated into programs, policies, and initiatives across the organization and within our communities, including strategies to identify the health inequities, SDOH barriers, and member experience that intersect with the mission of SHP to serve our members.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in health care management or a related field and credentials that confer expertise in health equity such as certificate in health disparities, health (in)equity, social justice and/or human rights required. Master of Public Health with a concentration or focus in health disparities, health (in)equity, social justice, and/or human rights
- Five (5) years experience in health insurance or healthcare delivery required.
- Five (5) years experience in health equity, SDOH and member satisfaction programs to remove barriers to care and health inequities while enhancing the overall experience required. Experience must include conducting studies identifying disparities amongst different population groups; leading organization-wide policies, programs, or services to achieve health equity; and/or leading advocacy efforts to achieve health equity.
- Three (3) years management experience required. Experience must include developing, implementing, and leading cross functional projects/programs and strategic plans.
