About the Job
The Athletic Trainer provides exceptional patient care within the hospital and clinic setting under the direction of the Physician as a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team specialized in orthopedic and musculoskeletal care.
Responsibilities:• Assist with intake of patients including medical history, physical exam, preparations of imaging and any other intake requirements relating to office visit then communicates results to physician.
• Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and other applicable providers to evaluate the patient’s physical condition and advise a treatment plan and return to play considerations for the athlete.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local high schools, colleges, and various athletic organizations.
• Provide discharge instructions and participation status, instructions for home exercise programs, schedules follow-up visits and makes referrals to other healthcare providers as prescribed by the treating physician's assistant.
• Follow-up with patients and ensures ongoing communication with patients, school personnel, applicable allied healthcare professionals, parent/guardians, etc. as required.
• Assist in the operating room within the scope of practice of an OTC/OTC-SC.
• Assist with the fitting of durable medical goods and apply casts where needed.
• Maintains clinical competence by attending continuing education classes each year.
• Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
• Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine or similar required.
• Athletic training license from Board of Certification Athletic Training Certification (BOC) required.
• Orthopedic Technologist certification preferred.
• Post Graduate Athletic Training Residency Program preferred.
Experience (required and preferred):
• 0 – 2 years athletic training experience required.
