About Us: Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees. Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware. With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provide oversight and tutorial support for student-athletes in the Structured Study Room and hold student-athletes to the Structured Study rules, as stated in the Student-Athlete Handbook. Rules include signing-in and signing-out, staying on task, electronic devise use, etc. Position needed for the academic year, starting Monday thru Friday, January 29, 2024 thru May 3, 2024. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Wednesday & Friday. Structured Study will be closed during campus-wide closures (holidays, breaks, inclement weather, etc.) SPECIFIC DUTIES • Ensure student-athletes sign-in and out of Structured Study on appropriate sport-specific sheet • Monitor student-athlete behavior while signed-in to Structured Study, as per the Structured Study Guidelines in the Staff and Student-Athlete Handbook • Provide tutorial support, proofreading services, and academic support to student-athletes on an as-needed basis • Collaborate with Faculty and Student Support Staff when needed, daily monitor the Athletic Reporting email account • Collect and return sign-in sheets to Assistant Director of Athletics every Friday (or last open day of each week) • Other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics REQUIREMENTS • Education: B.A./B.S. in Education or related field. Significant progress towards degree is also considered. Ability to assist student-athletes with college-level work in mathematics, writing, and English. • Experience: Experience with tutorial support involving a diverse group of students or experience in a similar setting. • Proficiencies: Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills and ability to assess priorities. Experience working with computers, Blackboard, and Canvas. Must be available during above Structured Study hours – slight modifications depending on availability may be considered.
