Description
Position Summary/Essential Duties: (include percentage of time for each duty).
Under the direction of a licensed, certified audiologist, provides a continuum of Audiology services that include the prevention, identification, diagnosis, consultation and treatment of patients with hearing or communication impairments. Participates in the implementation of the infant hearing screening & assessment program at UHC. Essential duties include:
1. Patient evaluation, interpretation of findings, and management.
2. Patient treatment.
3. Documentation.
Equipment use and maintenance.
Qualifications
Education/Expertise:
Completed 3 years of graduate level course work/academic credits toward the Clinical Doctorate of Audiology, and actively enrolled in the 4th year of the degree program.
Required Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN, RRT):
Completion with a passing score on national Praxis examination prior to initiation of externship preferred.
Experience & Knowledge:
Requires fundamental knowledge and ability to apply the principles and practices related to Audiology, appropriate to the developmental/chronological age of patients on his/her caseload. Experience with hearing aids, OAEs, evoked response audiometry, and cochlear implants is desirable.
Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:
Exposure and familiarity with audiometric equipment including audiometers, audiometric booths, immittance bridges, otoacoustic emissions, electronystamograph,auditory evoked responses, VRA and play conditioning
