Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Execute audit assignments in various areas.
- Tailor and complete engagement audit programs in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist junior staff with understanding audit practices specific for alternative investment funds, as well as Marcum LLP practices, procedures and systems.
- Supervise the activities of staff assigned to audit engagements and solve engagement problems.
- Identify and communicate issues that affect the accuracy of the accounting records.
- Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, accounting errors and irregularities, fraud, or non-compliance with laws and regulations.
- Interview clients' staff to ensure appropriate recording of transactions and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and integrity.
- Perform research when necessary.
- Take complete ownership of specific aspects of the engagement and see them through to completion.
- Effectively utilize engagement software.
- Thorough understanding of basic accounting and reporting requirements.
- Review and proof client financial statements including complex footnote disclosures.
- Prepare and complete meaningful management letters.
- Respond in a timely fashion to client questions and requests.
- Communicate engagement needs to the client.
- Involvement in the review process, resolve and clear review points from Manager, Partner, EQR.
- Develop and cultivate effective relationships with client and staff.
- Keep current on professional pronouncements.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 years of experience in public accounting or related field
- 1 year supervisory experience preferred
- CPA candidates preferred
- Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
The annual salary target for this job in this market is $80,000-$115,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skillset of the individual selected for this position.
