- Position Title: Authorization and Scheduling Specialist.
- Reports to: Billing Supervisor.
- Status: Full-time, hourly.
- Pay: $45,000. - $52,000. Annually ($21.63 - $25.00/hour)-dependent on experience.
- Schedule: Weekdays, hours: 8:30 AM-5:30 PM with 1 hour lunch. No nights, no weekends.

Duties:
- Collects and reviews all client insurance information needed to complete the benefit verification process.
- Verifies client-specific benefits and precisely documents specifics for various payer plans including patient coverage, cost share, and access/provider options.
- Complete the patient intake process from start to finish.
- Schedule clinicians with patient needing care for services such as Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy and Occupational therapy.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures a client has prior medical insurance authorization before receiving certain health care procedures, services, and prescriptions.
- Maintain appropriate logs or reports according to professional state and federal requirements.
- Verify patients benefits and coordinate the verification of patient benefits.
- Monitor and track the client’s authorization, informing the supervisor of any expired date.
- Ensures that each client's insurance is active and current at all times.
- Obtain, input, and review insurance authorization referrals prior to patient services.
- Maintain weekly/monthly report of active patients.
- Monthly report of benefit eligibility.
- Scheduling patients with the appropriate clinician in a timely manner.
Equipment Operation:
- Use of a calculator, basic computer skills, copy machine, multi-line phone.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional organizational, customer service, communication, and decision-making skills required.
- Be familiar with medical coding.
- Strong computer skills.
- Data Entry and typing skills.
- Filing and organizational skills.
- Be able to listen carefully and pay attention to details.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
