Position Summary
The Auto Body Repair Technician repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. Assists other body shop technicians with disassembling, assembling and repairing of parts on damaged vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Body/Frame Technicians with all phases of auto body repair.
- Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Check parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
- Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed. Documents and additional parts and labor required to perform a satisfactory repair.
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintains a professional attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors.
- Follows the dress code the company has put in place. Maintains a clean and neat work area. Keeps area free of debris.
- Follows federal, state and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information.
- Reports on time to work and follows schedule that is given. Calls supervisor if he/she cannot be at work on time.
- Keeps current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position.
- Follows all company policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of any illegal activity.
