Position Overview:
Hog trucks are used around the world in more than 57 countries. These specialty trucks are used to remove Rubber from the worlds' runways using super high pressure water, cut rumbles in the sides of highways to alert drivers of road departure, apply all sorts of pavement markings such as hot plastic, epoxy, and paint..... the Rumble Hog, the Stripe Hog, the Thermo Hog and the Epoxy Hog are leading the world in their respective fields. The patented hog trucks have miles of wiring in them in some cases and a host of electrical components ranging from safety strobes to lasers to joystick controllers. The Electrical team is responsible to terminate wires, route wires appropriately around hot or rotating components and organize a host of issues that will ultimately impact Hogs ability to deliver a quality vehicle to our clients.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Splice wires with knives or cutting pliers, and solder connections to fixtures and equipment.
- Diagnose or repair problems with electronic equipment in motor vehicles.
- Inspect, test, and install electrical or electronic systems to locate and diagnose malfunctions, using visual inspections and testing instruments such as voltmeters.
- Run new electrical cables.
- Cut openings and drill holes for fixtures and equipment, using electric drills.
- Replace and clean electrical or electronic components.
- Remove seats, carpeting, and interiors of doors; add sound-absorbing material in empty spaces; and reinstall interior parts.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
- Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, using hand tools or power tools.
- Plan, layout, and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Other duties as needed to meet Production requirements.
Qualifications/Experience:
- At least 3 years electrical experience (preferred). Automotive or Commercial electrical experience also preferred.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in assembling electronic equipment.
- Experience determining the cause of errors and troubleshoot to resolve the issue(s).
- Able to utilize your hands to grasp and assemble objects.
- Ability to detect differences in colors, shades, and brightness.
- Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds throughout the day
- Must be able to stand and walk for an eight-hour shift
- Must be an energetic self-starter and have a strong sense of urgency; and capable of following tasks through to completion.
- Must be self-disciplined, highly organized, goal-oriented.
Supervisory Responsibility - this position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment - this job operates in a shop environment where tools and other machinery is used.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - this is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. However, this schedule may vary based on the needs of the shop and as assigned by the production supervisor which will change as required based on job duties demand.
Travel - this position may require travel from time to time. (flexible on this point)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications - must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
