Engineering Technician (Auto Parts Testing Technician)

Job Summary: The Auto Parts Tester (Engineering Technician) will operate electro-mechanical test equipment to qualify new engine components, parts, and sourcing. The technician will research component features, including their location in vehicles, sensing characteristics for duplication, schematic connections, and proper functional testing. Responsibilities also include analyzing incoming part failures and assisting various engineering testing requests from different departments. The technician will input testing data and research into our databases for ongoing quality testing and part approval tracking.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate test equipment for new and current vehicle sensors and parts.
- Create testing procedures and documentation for approval and receiving inspection testing.
- Research wiring diagrams, connection schematics, applications, and functionalities.
- Perform miscellaneous engineering testing requests to support new business initiatives, quality assurance, and new part development.
- Assist with return evaluations to determine root causes and preventive measures.
- Conduct or assist with occasional on-vehicle testing.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Evaluate vehicle engine components and other sensors and parts.
- Maintain and track project timelines and work hours.
- Develop testing specifications and procedures for vehicle sensors and components.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by management that align with capabilities.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and familiarity with Word.
- Basic data entry skills for database systems.
- Understanding of basic electronic circuits preferred.
- Previous experience or ability to quickly learn the use of precision measuring equipment.
- General knowledge of mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Prior experience with vehicles, engines, and components is preferred.
- Flexibility to handle various work assignments.
