Scope of Job:
We are looking for a skilled Auto Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles, golf carts, lawn equipment, air compressors and other small engines. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.
An excellent auto mechanic has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They are well-versed in complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. They must also be good communicators to provide advice to customers.
Key Objectives: Perform regular preventative maintenance, ability to test, diagnose, inspect, repair, and maintain systems equipment to ensure their effective use and safe operation. Troubleshoot engines and electrical problems. Replace broken or worn-out parts.
Main Responsibilities:
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to functionality and longevity
- Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise on good vehicle practices
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
- Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
- Keep logs on work and issues
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
- Follows established maintenance program, including any emergency repairs as required to keep down time to an acceptable minimum.
- Follow through on all maintenance repairs.
- Ensures that all mechanical equipment and work areas are kept clean, neat, and orderly at all times.
- Ensures the security and safety by inspecting and prevention of safety hazards.
- Ensures internal compliance with maintenance, safety and security procedures by following established ASTM, NEC, state, and local codes, and loss prevention guidelines.
- Operate simple machine tools, such as drill presses, power saws, grinders, etc.
- Recognizes equipment that needs repair, replacing, or adjusting.
- Keeps safety as #1 priority.
- Keeps informed and updated on modern techniques and technical methods by attending supplemental courses, seminars, conventions, etc.
- Maintain liaison with fellow maintenance employees and other departments.
- Follows LEGOLAND Florida resort policies and procedures at all times.
- Responds to emergency calls within theme park, expediting repairs to ensure guest and fellow Model Citizens safety and comfort at all times.
Health & Safety:
Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues and guests (where appropriate), in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law. In particular, they must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities that they undertake, and they must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are reported to their line manager and must cooperate with any investigation as appropriate.

Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Work Environment:
Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces, may include dirty and dusty environment.
Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, with extreme hot or cold conditions.
Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
Qualifications & Experience:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support park operations.
Must have a valid driver’s license, safe driving record.
Proven experience as auto mechanic.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles and small engines.
Working knowledge of vehicle and engine diagnostic systems and methods.
Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
Background and Experience:
- Mechanical knowledge of small engines, air compressors, boats, golf carts and mid-size vehicles preferred.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot electronic and mechanical systems required.
- Ability to perform monthly/semi-annual/annual preventative maintenance per manufactures recommendations and track electronically.
- General mechanical understanding required.
- Able to work independently and with a team, but with regular instruction and checkpoints to ensure quality control.
- Layout, install, test, troubleshoot, repair and service vehicles and boats.
- Ability to assist in other departments
- Complete repair work within the established time frame
- Safely always operate vessels and vehicles

Considerable knowledge of the practices, tools, and equipment used to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain rides and other equipment is required. Basic knowledge of types and grades of hardware, Torque wrenches and math skills is required. Basic skill in reading a micrometer and calliper is required. Preferred experience in repairing and servicing small diesel and gasoline engines. Possesses thorough understanding of, but not limited to, working knowledge, of all phases of mechanical work related to overhaul, repair, and preventive maintenance of all types of boat engines, ride equipment, animation, utilities theme park, including high volume submersible-and turbine-type water pumps. Extensive knowledge in preventive maintenance systems is required. Ability to read and evaluate reports and correspondence and basic math skills required. Must be able to read blueprints pertaining to boats, rides, attractions and buildings. Must have a general knowledge of all types of lubricants. Must be able to react under pressure or in an emergency in a calm and rational manner. A friendly, polite, customer service-oriented demeanour is required. Demonstrated ability to follow supervisor’s directions effectively, observe and remember details. Requires the ability to make quick and proper decisions.
Education:
- High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred.
- Small engine repair course preferred
- ASE Certificate Preferred
