Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and talented Automotive Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a strong technical background and exceptional customer service abilities. The candidate is responsible for managing customer interactions, including greeting customers, understanding their service needs, and preparing repair orders. The role involves assessing required services, providing estimates for additional repairs, seeking customer approval for extra work, and informing customers about other available services. Ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the service process is a key aspect of this role.
Detailed Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist Management with overseeing daily operations, ensuring the team meets production and quality standards while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Provide training and mentoring to team members, fostering skill development and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Address operational issues promptly, utilizing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve efficiency.
- Advises customers on necessary routine maintenance services.
- Identifies mechanical issues through customer questioning, visual inspection, or road tests.
- Discusses inspection results with customers, recommends corrective actions, and prepares work orders for repairs.
- Prepares detailed repair orders with time, cost, and labor estimates.
- Provides a brief description of customer concerns on the repair order to assist technicians.
- Explains completed work and associated charges to customers.
- Handles customer complaints and resolves issues.
- Schedules service appointments and manages customer data.
- Greets customers promptly and collects vehicle information.
- Conducts test drives with customers to confirm issues or directs to test technicians.
- Refers to service history, inspects vehicles, and suggests additional services.
- Advises on vehicle maintenance and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
- Provides accurate written cost estimates for labor and parts.
- Establishes and communicates “promised time” for service.
- Obtains customer signatures on repair orders and provides copies.
- Manages payment methods, including credit approval if needed.
- Notifies dispatcher of incoming work and monitors repair progress.
- Contacts customers with updates on estimates or changes in service time.
- Implements and maintains service marketing programs.
- Reviews repair orders to ensure completeness and additional work authorization.
- Ensures vehicles are properly parked, locked, and keys are secured.
- Keeps service department documentation, pricing guides, and forms updated.
- Maintains a quality control process to minimize comebacks.
- Ensures high customer satisfaction and handles telephone inquiries.
- Inspects vehicles for body work needs and provides estimates if necessary.
- Maintains a professional appearance and keeps the work area clean.
- Fill in when required
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in Auto Care services.
- Perform other related duties

Education
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience & Functional Knowledge
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred.
- Relevant manufacturer training and certifications.
- Valid driver's license
- Expertise in automotive systems, repair procedures, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service, manage complaints, and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools, preparing repair orders, and managing budgets.
- Experience in scheduling, inventory management, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Relevant ASE certifications, manufacturer training, and prior experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of NYC-specific regulations and compliance requirements related to automotive services, and safety regulations.
- Typically will be working within the auto center and service area,
- Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on the business's operational needs.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical conditions, as required in an automotive environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
