Automated Equipment Test Technician - Viking Engineering and Development

Summary/Objective
A Viking Test Technician's primary role is to take a fully assembled machine from Power Up through Production Validation. Ensure that build quality standards are met, and the equipment can produce quality products at the production rate.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support Electrical Team with Power up, Programming and I/O Checks.
- Troubleshoot all wiring and component issues, to resolution.
- Verify the Mechanical Build, ensuring that the equipment will function at its Min and Max settings.
- Troubleshoot all mechanical issues, including hydraulic and pneumatic, to resolution.
- Adjust machine settings as necessary to build quality products at the desired rates.
- Document machine build issues found and document Machine status at the time of shipping.
- Meet machine shipment schedules.
- Work closely with the Engineering and Service teams. Submit engineering change requests as needed.
- Contribute to the machine documentation manual, including specific operation instructions.
- Participate in the assembly of machines as needed to meet the production schedule.
- Work with Design Engineering to validate and test machine changes and updates.
Accountability
Accountabilities include ensuring each machine performs as designed upon shipment, is properly documented, and meets the customer's specifications.
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in machine/equipment building, assembly, and testing, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience working on basic hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. They must demonstrate proven knowledge of machine building and electrical wiring best practices, as well as a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and PLC troubleshooting procedures. Additionally, they should be proficient in reading and interpreting machine documentation, including SolidWorks models of mechanical parts and assembly drawings, pneumatic diagrams, and electrical schematics. Experience with servo-controlled equipment is also required.
Preferred Software Experience
- Preferred software experience includes proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Emerson PAC Machine Edition, and B&R Automation Studios

Work Environment
The Viking Test Technician works primarily on the Production Floor, with some time in an office space. On the Viking production floor, Steel Toe Safety Shoes are required as well as Safety Glasses. When equipment is running, hearing protection is recommended.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee regularly works around live voltage wiring. The noise level in the manufacturing area is moderate to loud.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Location
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Schedule is standard business hours. Overtime is occasionally requested. The position is based in Viking's main office location.
