Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) Operator to join our manufacturing team. The AOI Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining automatic optical inspection equipment to ensure the quality and accuracy of electronic components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AOI technology, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. This opportunity is on the second shift from 3:00pm - 11:00pm EST.
Responsibilities:
- Operate automatic optical inspection (AOI) equipment to inspect electronic components and assemblies for defects, including solder joint quality, component placement, and other critical features.
- Set up and calibrate AOI systems according to specific job requirements and product specifications.
- Monitor AOI processes and equipment performance to ensure consistent and accurate inspection results.
- Interpret and analyze inspection data and identify any deviations or anomalies requiring further investigation.
- Collaborate with production and quality control teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of AOI equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, equipment maintenance activities, and any quality-related issues.
- Assist in training new operators and providing guidance on AOI operation and best practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in electronics or related field preferred.
- Proven experience operating automatic optical inspection (AOI) equipment in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the electronics industry.
- Strong knowledge of AOI technology, including software operation, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Proficiency in using computer software and data analysis tools to review and analyze inspection results.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet production deadlines.
- Commitment to upholding quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Physical ability to lift and move equipment, components, and assemblies up to 40lbs as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with specific AOI systems and software platforms (e.g., CyberOptics, Mirtec, Omron).
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards and familiarity with common electronic manufacturing processes.
- Experience in statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
