SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
:
The Industrial Automation/Controls Technician supports programming, troubleshooting, calibration, project implementation and network Integration. Responsible for keeping the automated industrial control systems current. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the factory. : Maintenance Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Adhere to all OSHA, NFPA and BAND-IT EHS rules and regulations. + Demonstrate thorough understanding of industrial control systems and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC’s). + Drive and support projects by developing and implementing automated control systems for production equipment. + Install, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components of industrial machinery and equipment. + Specify, source and procure control system components and electrical materials. + When assigned, create PLC and HMI programs for new equipment builds or upgrades of existing equipment. Tests all programs to ensure compliance to engineering machine specifications and required functionality as well as all required safety standards. + Document control systems per department standards. This includes: Control system components and bills of material (BOM), electrical schematics, hardware configurations and PLC and HMI programs. + Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to engineering, maintenance and operations personnel to resolve control system and machine issues. + Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking and communication; troubleshoot, determine causes of failure and perform corrective actions; oversee full industrial control system project implementation on both hardware and software problems. + Write business cases for and execute small capital projects. + Support predictive and preventive maintenance program. + Ensure compliance with manufacturing change control. + Interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor starters, run relays; Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs); servo motors and controls. + Interface with and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley and other plant PLC’s including connecting to the PLC, reading ladder logic, programming, diagnosing hardware and software problems. + Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements. + Complete root cause analysis on failures of logic and components. Implements solutions from the analysis.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the basic requirements satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. + High School Diploma or GED and 5 years PLC and HMI programming experience + Formal training in automation and controls through college/university courses or manufacturer offered courses. + Experience with full Industrial Control System project implementation + Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of wiring and AC/DC electrical circuits. + Demonstrated knowledge of servo, VFD, stepper, AC and DC motors. + Sound working knowledge of Electrical Safe Work Practices; AC and DC Electrical Theory; reading/creating electrical prints/control schematics; motor control; personal computer hardware and software; computer networks; Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems; pneumatic and hydraulic valves; + Skill in using electrical measurement equipment and hand tools. + Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics and parts specifications + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions + Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Listed below are the preferred requirements for this position. A candidate may meet one or more of these requirements. + High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of industrial maintenance experience + Certified Control Systems Technician through ISA or similar certification.

Physical Demands:
+ Requires reaching with hands or arms approximately 60% of the time. + At least 60% of the time is spent standing or walking. + Approximately 60% of the time is spent bending, kneeling, crouching or climbing. + Approximately 30% of the time is spent listening for machine malfunctions. + Lifting requirements range from less than 5 lbs. up to 65 lbs.
Work Environment:
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving, mechanical parts approximately 70% of the time. + Works in high places (>6’ from floor level) approximately 10% of the time. + There is exposure to outdoor weather conditions approximately 10% of the time.
Mental/Visual Demands:
+ Close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus are necessary to perform the job functions. + Peripheral vision is required for safety purposes. + Must be constantly alert to machine operation.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $50,000.00 - $75,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
