Objective of the Job:
This position has responsibility for Level 2 systems in the Melt shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed. 2) Solely responsible for Level
2 systems in the Melt shop.
3) Design and write programs to enhance systems and meet new requirements.
4) Satisfy ad hoc data requests for Big River, customers, suppliers, and partners.
5) Provide accurate production and consumption data to Melt shop and Accounting.
6) Manage physical and virtual hardware to ensure uptime of Level 2 systems.
7) Troubleshoot systems to resolve bugs and inefficiencies.
8) Work with 3rd parties to provide their systems with Level 2 database data.
9) Provide support for Level 2 systems when needed.
Qualifications:
1) Experience programming using C#, VB.Net, C++, or similar language. C# preferred.
2) Experience communicating to PLC’s with OPC in production environment.
3) Ability to listen to stakeholders, then design, code, and implement solutions that address their needs.
4) Experience managing Hyper-V or VMware environments.
5) Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours or on-call support.
6) Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
7) Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience.
8) Experience writing SQL queries.
9) Understanding of basic database design principles.
10) Experience managing databases to ensure uptime.
11) Good problem-solving skills.
12) Comfortable prioritizing a backlog of requests.
13) Experience in the metals industry is a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This is an industrial environment whereas occasionally you will be in a harsh environment subject to the elements. This job is primarily office based but field work is required as needed.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others.
