Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting for an Automation Engineer Intern, within our Robotics & Digital Solutions organization. The location for this position is Redwood City, CA!

The Automation Engineer Intern will develop test infrastructure, test fixtures and implement test scripts for the Monarch robotic system. The candidate must be comfortable working with complex electro-mechanical systems, deploying new software releases and running test scripts on the systems. The Automation R&D Engineering intern will support the software team in developing automation software for testing the Auris' robotic platform. By combining advancements in medical robotics, instrumentation, navigation, and data science, Auris is building a platform technology capable of expanding the applicability of robotics to a spectrum of medical procedures. The candidate will work in close relationships with the software developers to integrate and improve test infrastructure in existing software solutions. The position is available during the summer recess for up to 3 months duration. The schedule is flexible to accommodate college semester/trimester calendars. We are looking for a candidate who can work independently and function well within a team, is self-motivated, diligent, and takes testing and automation as their true passion.
Responsibilities
- As a member of the Automation R&D team, you will support the design, and development of automation software and scripts for testing medical devices.
- Working with a mentor, the engineering intern will be assigned at least one specific project in a specialized area of research, in addition to contributing to broader projects and goals on a daily basis.
- These responsibilities may include test automation development, test integration with CI/CD infrastructure, fixture design, data analysis, programming, and testing.
- Work closely with senior engineers, developers, and technicians.
- Provide design and test solutions in a fast-paced environment with a quick development cycle.
- Must be capable of working independently and in a team, while being flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic, curious and willing to revolutionize the world of medical robotics.
- Must be capable of working on-site.
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews.
- Education: Enrollment in an Undergraduate, master's or PhD graduate Engineering or equivalent.
- Skilled in software programming using Python, data analysis, and technical writing.
- Hands-on engineering and problem-solving with the proven ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of uncovering anomalies in robust software
- Ability to work at the Redwood City, CA site & travel up to 10%
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
