Title: Automation Engineer
Location: NJ - 100% onsite
Duration: 1 year with potential extension
Description:
- Our pharmaceutical client is seeking an experienced Automation Controls Specialist to join their team in a sterile clinical manufacturing environment.
- Client is a fill/finish environment producing oral solid dosages, sterile-filled syringes and vials, and vaccines, utilizing equipment such as lyophilizers, parts washers, and robotics; all PLC based.
- The contractor will be expected to learn the existing automation systems, get up to speed, make changes, find problems and fixes while maintaining compliance.
- The contractor should be proficient in PLC and HMI applications, specifically with platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Inductive Automation.
- Familiarity with tools like RSLogix, FactoryTalk ME/SE, RSLinx, TIA Portal, WinCC OA, and/or Ignition is essential.
- In addition to strong technical skills, the contractor should be fluent in programming languages like Python and possess a solid understanding of PLCs and SCADAs.
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- Proficient in reading and writing ladder logic programs for automation systems, with specific expertise in installing and utilizing PLC & HMI applications from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Inductive Automation.
- This includes familiarity with RSLogix, FactoryTalk ME/SE, RSLinx, TIA Portal, WinCC OA, and/OR Ignition.
- Skilled in programming in Python or similar languages.
- Knowledgeable in configuring OPC applications such as Kepware server for interconnecting automation systems.
- Well-versed in networking systems, TCP/IP addressing, and network ports.
- Familiar with Windows server setup and maintenance as well as VMware systems.
- Preparing and updating equipment and automation change control documentation for approval
- Documenting all changes made to equipment and automation documentation and software
- Troubleshooting and remediating all testing discrepancies and equipment malfunctions.
- Documenting all automation operational and maintenance activities.
- Reviewing all SDLC documentation of automation systems to ensure compliance
- Verifying all automation and code backups for PLCs, HMI, Python, etc.
- Reviewing all incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and providing a path forward.
Background: 5-7 years of experience in automation engineering, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector but clients will also consider candidates from other industries such as medical devices, oil and gas, or automotive.
Education: Experience is most important. Ideal candidates will be energetic, flexible, and possess leadership qualities.
