Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Workshop Manager to lead our service department, which consists of 20 skilled auto technicians. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the garage, ensuring staff productivity, managing service workflow, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive aftersales management, with a strong focus on quality service, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
- Oversee all service and repair activities, ensuring efficiency and maximum productivity of all technicians.
- Manage workflow, prioritize vehicle jobs, and ensure timely and accurate completion of service and repair tasks.
- Follow up with various manufacturers to obtain responses and diagnostic assistance, resolving complex issues effectively.
- Ensure the workshop is safe, clean, and equipped with up-to-date tools and equipment to meet service needs.
- Coordinate with the Business Development Center (BDC) and service team to maintain effective customer communication and updates.
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring high-quality customer interactions, satisfaction, and loyalty.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly, turning unhappy customers into satisfied ones.
- Oversee warranty and recall jobs and manage vehicles awaiting parts to minimize customer wait times.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of auto technicians to foster a positive and productive working environment.
- Provide ongoing coaching, development, and feedback to team members.
- Ensure all technicians adhere to dealership and manufacturer standards and procedures.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all repairs meet high standards and adhere to industry and manufacturer specifications.
- Regularly inspect completed work for quality assurance.
- Administrative Duties:
- Follow up with the parts department to ensure orders are placed, and progress is updated.
- Maintain accurate service records, schedules, and reports.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of automotive aftersales experience, with at least 5 years in a management role within a garage or workshop.
- Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology, Service Management, or a related field.
- Certified automotive technician or service manager, with a record of completed manufacturer training.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A calm and patient demeanor, with the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility and a customer-first mindset, willing to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Proficient in service management software and MS Office Suite.
- Experience managing brands such as Hyundai, Honda, Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Changan Auto, or GAC Motor is a plus.
