About the Job
We are seeking a skilled Audio-Visual (AV) Install Technician to join our team. The AV Install Technician will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of AV systems in commercial, educational, and residential settings. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a range of AV equipment, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure high-quality installations.
Responsibilities
- Installation of AV Systems:
- Install and configure audio-visual systems, including projectors, screens, displays, sound systems, control systems, and video conferencing equipment.
- Run and terminate cabling (HDMI, VGA, Cat5/Cat6, audio, etc.) for AV equipment.
- Mount displays, speakers, and other AV hardware on walls, ceilings, or stands according to project specifications.
- System Setup & Configuration:
- Program and configure control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX) and integrate AV components for seamless operation.
- Test and calibrate AV systems to ensure optimal performance, including sound balancing, video resolution adjustments, and network connectivity.
- Provide troubleshooting support for AV systems during installation and post-installation.
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure installations meet design specifications and customer expectations.
- Review project plans, schematics, and blueprints to understand installation requirements and timelines.
- Maintain detailed documentation of installation activities, including system configurations, cable management, and equipment lists.
- Technical Support & Maintenance:
- Provide on-site and remote technical support for installed AV systems, diagnosing and resolving hardware or software issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and system upgrades as needed to ensure long-term functionality of AV systems.
- Train clients and end-users on the operation of installed AV systems.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure installations comply with safety standards and local building codes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites, including proper labeling and securing of cables and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in AV systems is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in installing and configuring AV systems.
- Proficiency with AV equipment, including displays, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, mixers, and control systems.
- Experience with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX) is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cabling standards (HDMI, VGA, Cat5/Cat6, audio cables) and signal flow.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
