EPM allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, you will be responsible for electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) component selection, pedigree evaluation, component derating, part-level analyses, and environmental impact assessments
Your domain expertise as a Component Engineer will help the team develop and evolve our standards for EEE component testing, screening, and qualification
You will assist our teams to mitigate the cost, performance, and schedule risks by guiding EEE component selection for our flight avionics designs
In this role you will share in the team’s effort to improve the overall performance and reliability of our avionics systems.To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills, experience, and knowledge to apply EEE components in high-reliability applications.In addition, you will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with hardware and software engineers You will need to be able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight
Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Utilize features of PLM software systems to improve visibility into the product/component approval lifecycle for all business/technical stakeholdersLead program-wide component level assessment and evaluation activitiesSupport sustaining engineering and obsolescence management efforts in a EEE components capacityDevelop component level requirements and assist the responsible engineer in design solutionsDevelop value-added screening and qualification approaches and methodologiesEnsure compliance to EEE component requirementsLead sustainment activities to maintain baseline control
Increased focus on PCN/GIDEP management and proactive obsolescence planning is needed.Enforce baseline controlMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of hands-on experience in component and parts management, avionics hardware development, integration, and/or testAbility to assess the Bill of Materials for avionics designs against approved vendor/component parts lists and standardsExperience in a design, manufacturing, quality, or reliability capacityAbility to lead and investigate part advisories and alerts (e.g., GIDEP, ECIA)Experience with managing part change notifications and assessing impactExperience with obsolescence management of EEE partsAbility to travel as the need arises to supplier locations throughout the U.S.Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field, or equivalent experienceAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S
