About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Avionics Installation Technician 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting and testing certified and experimental avionics systems in FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) part 23, 25, 27 and 29 aircraft.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Develop documentation, testing and training plans for new avionics systems to meet internal/external needs
- Modify aircraft to accommodate panel and remote mounted avionics equipment with demonstrated wiring, termination techniques and harness skills
- Prepare new aircraft wiring harnesses in accordance with Engineering drawings and installation documents
- Troubleshoot existing avionics installation interconnects with an advanced understanding of repair station practices
- Ability to apply solutions and support advanced installations
- Use ramp test equipment to verify proper function of installed avionics
- Partner with Engineering in development and verification of new installation documentation
- Complete Repair Station and aircraft paperwork (logbook entries, FAA 337, W&B, etc.)
- Compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements
- Mentor lower-level technicians and apprentices
- Assist in maintenance and aircraft movement in the hangar
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years general aviation, maintenance or avionics experience and/or equivalent combination of education, military aviation experience and/or aviation related experience
- Must possess experience substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description with installing avionics systems in piston, turbine and turbojet aircraft
- Must possess demonstrated ability to read/interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and installations manuals with the ability to determine basic system integration and configuration
- Demonstrated ability of aircraft wiring harness termination techniques, wire harness fabrication and harness installation techniques in general aviation aircraft
- Demonstrated ability in the operational testing and modification of aircraft pitot-static systems, including aircraft transponder testing and RVSM requirements
- Knowledge of FAA Regulations relating to avionics installations, testing requirements and how to apply those to assigned tasks
- Must possess the ability to routinely bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally team lift up to 100 lbs. while using safe lifting techniques; pushing/pulling equipment up to 200 lbs.; standing and sitting for extended periods of time; kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling; climbing and utilizing ladders to connect cables and walking long distances throughout the facility; repetitive motion; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with aircraft maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet
- Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Desired Qualifications
- FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificate
- Experience using desktop computer systems
- Experience producing and modifying drawings using AutoCAD
- Basic aircraft sheet metal skills relating to avionics installations
