The AVP, ERM will play a critical role in integrating enterprise risk management activities throughout the organization. Responsibilities include the continual maturation of ERM framework by executing risk-based initiatives across the organization, supporting risk-intelligent decision making.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage a team as the second line of defense to the organization
- Collaborate with different departments and different levels of management to develop risk tolerances /limits, indicators, etc. to aid in the identification, assessment, and reporting of significant risks
- Develop and maintain risk policies; assist Divisions with the development of risk policies and evaluate for fit for purpose. Review policies at least annually or as needed
- Review/revise Key Risk Indicators at least annually or as needed to reflect the current risk profile
- Be the Risk advisor to rapidly growing Divisions such as Program business and other Divisions
- Integrate new Divisions into the organization by providing ERM training and delivering on the work plan
- Guide/conduct risk assessments, ensure appropriate risk mitigation plans exist where needed and provide meaningful feedback to the organization
- Oversee the drafting of ORSA, risk registers/dashboards, and other risk reports to ensure effective reporting for the Enterprise Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee
- Develop training materials and provide training to risk owners and other members of the organization as needed on the ERM framework and approach
- Ensure effective alignment between ERM processes and Internal Audit activities to promote an integrated risk management approach
- Serve as a key contact for risk owners
- Experience in embedding risk management practices within an organization
- Must have a strong working knowledge of ERM framework and its components
- Knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance Industry products, processes, analytics, and trends
- Skilled at project management and execution of final deliverables within specified time frames
- Collaboration skills that emphasize strong understanding of Relationship Management
- Proficient with Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI
- Familiarity with GRC and risk analytical tools would be a plus
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree: Risk management and Insurance, Strategy, Finance, or related field
- MBA, CPCU, and/or other advanced insurance designation preferred
- 7+ years of combined insurance industry, enterprise risk management, and internal audit experience
- Experience in managing varied priorities concurrently while meeting deadlines and service expectations
- Accuracy and attention to detail are critical
- Possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills and ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization
