Competencies, Skills, and Attributes:
- Manages Azure based SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission critical production systems.
- Ensures security is integrated into all data solutions to meet compliance standards.
- Design, implement, and maintain database disaster recovery processes and procedures.
- Experience in SQL Azure database and point in time recovery using best practices.
- SQL Azure performance tuning experience and analyzing log events and analytics.
- Responsible for capacity planning, service process design, performance analysis, and developing proactive resolution plans.
- Responsible for the administration, building and deployment of Azure resources especially related to database administration.
- Support production control processes, oversee and coordinate application operations, and work with the IT Operations, Customer Support and Application Development teams to provide support necessary for day-to-day application operations.
- Using cloud technology, combine data from various sources, cloud/API/Other, based on the project requirements.
- Perform data cleansing and standardization and load data into a cloud data warehouse as projects dictate.
- Translate business requirements into data warehouse pipelines using ETL/ELT methodologies.
- Extract and load many disparate systems into a centralized data warehouse.
- Build/Maintain the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and CSP ‘big data’ technologies.
- Assist with preparing and loading data for Analysis and BI reports and dashboards.
- Identify opportunities for new data sources.
- Collaborate with analysts and developers to come up with creative solutions to data challenges.
- Design tables, stored procedures, views, and other database objects within SQL Server, Aurora MySQL, Postgres.
- Fully administer and maintain Azure database environments to include: Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Planning, Cost control, Performance Monitoring, Measuring and Reporting,
- Import and integrate new data sources based on business needs.
- Proactively identify potential data problems but react as needed to unexpected issues.
- Develop and maintain automated processes using ETL tools, data dictionaries, data classifications, and SQL Test Scripts.
- Analyze data and create sound database designs complete with documentation and data.
- Use of CI/CD pipelines and automation for database deployments.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years' relevant experience in data modeling and data architect.
- Must have significant experience in SQL Azure and Azure environment.
- Expertise with SQL and relational database systems.
- Experience with SQL development.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts.
- Knowledge of data mining, ETL, and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
- Proven ability to successfully troubleshoot and improve database performance issues.
- Experience in generating scripts for Azure database deployment.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of more than one database platform, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automating Database deployments.
- Knowledge of standard data model reports.
- Must know data normalization and denormalization techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including active listening, problem-solving when under pressure, and facilitation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Remote Work From Home (WFH) Position
(Note: The role will be based preferentially within the D.C. metropolitan area, Washington D.C. is the primary location but is not exclusive to this region)
The role may also include some minimal out of state travel.
Role will primarily work during normal business hours based on their time zone location (ex., DC Role during DC EST time), but on occasion be expected to accommodate meetings with stakeholders in other time zones across the country.
