Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Azure System Administrator to support government operations in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing Microsoft Azure environments, with a focus on ensuring the security, reliability, and efficiency of cloud-based systems. This role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including IT teams, government agencies, and external vendors, to ensure seamless cloud operations in a secure and compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Azure Environment Management:
- Deploy, manage, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure.
- Implement and manage virtual networks, storage accounts, and virtual machines.
- Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of cloud systems.
- Security & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and policies regarding cloud services.
- Implement and manage security controls, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and other scripting languages.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or Bicep.
- Monitoring & Optimization:
- Monitor system performance and usage, and implement optimizations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and other tools to detect and resolve issues proactively.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup:
- Design and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Manage backup and restore processes to ensure minimal downtime during incidents.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with development, networking, and security teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of cloud services.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of cloud environments, configurations, and procedures.
- Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide support for escalated incidents and outages.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator, with at least 2 years focused on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working in a government or regulated environment is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services, including VMs, Azure AD, Networking, Storage, and Security.
- Strong knowledge of PowerShell, Azure CLI, and scripting languages.
- Experience with IaC tools like ARM, Terraform, or Bicep.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments.
- Certifications:
- Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or equivalent certification required.
- Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) or Security Engineer (AZ-500) certification is a plus.
