Responsibilities:
Responsible for the shift safety, uptime, quality, waste, rate, and cost performance of the asset. Responsible for leading and directing his/her line to perform their assigned job duties, adhere to basic expectations, and rigorous execution of JSAs, SOPS, 6S, and systems.
Responsibilities/Principal Duties:
- Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner. Responsible for the safe performance of his/her team members.
- Participation in and active promotion of all safety initiatives including BBS.
- Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures, control charts, histograms, CpK, and other SPC tools and measurements; recommend improvements based on statistical data and observation.
- Develop, implement and maintain operational procedures and controls to ensure product meets customer required and recognized quality standards.
- Ensure team members are following JSAs and will confront any unsafe acts observed as well as give positive feedback
- Prepare and analyze reports and make recommendations for improvements
- Coordinate, review and communicate customer specifications/changes.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives for the Safety, Quality, Logistics, Process, and Operations teams.
- Assist the Shift Supervisor in understanding training and development needs for team members, as well as help execute the development of individuals
- Understand and help positively communicate changes in business situations, production schedules, and company policies.
- Responsible for presenting his/her assets results in meetings. This includes being able to explain what happened to drive downtime, waste, quality, rate, and other occurrences as well as how to prevent these occurrences in the future.
- Responsible for the accurate completion of all paperwork and data entry including but not limited to production and downtime reports, incident reports and the distribution of specifications.
- Safely operate all equipment needed to perform job
- Responsible for safety, product, process, and compliance audits; training of new team members; and team member certifications and recertification’s.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers as well as peers and to solve problems and enhance capabilities of the team
- Ensure required information is disseminated to the team through effective communication meetings, postings and other methods as needed.
- Provide the Shift Supervisor with relevant information and data for performance reviews, conflict resolution, training and development, and potential challenges or opportunities as identified.
- Prepare safety and incident reporting when appropriate.
- Assist operators and coordinate trouble-shooting activities. Refer to the Process Tech / Engineer for root-cause solutions to recurring problems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This statement considers the intensity and frequency that work is monitored: daily, weekly, monthly, etc.

Supervision Given: Directs and Leads Line Operators.

Education: High school education or GED equivalent is required. Technical Degree preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment. Personal computer experience, specifically with Microsoft Office products. Supervisory experience preferred.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements: Work is performed on the plant floor with frequent contact with others.
Prolonged sitting and frequent bending, stooping and stretching; manual dexterity; the ability to distinguish letters;
Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting up to 25 pounds.
Equipment: Knowledge of and skills in the use of office machines (computer and copier) and business procedures. Must maintain internal asset/process certifications that documents acceptable job knowledge and adherence to required procedures.
Work Environment:Job functions will be performed in and around production lines, warehouse, silos’, pumping stations.
Required to occasionally ascend and descend up to three flights of stairs over extremely fast-moving machinery.
Required to safely access fast moving machinery, which includes rolls with inward nip points.
Internal and External Contacts:
Primary contact is with internal customers; some contact with external customers and suppliers. Excellent communication skills are essential.
