About the Job
Provides supervision and instruction to children in the classroom. Develops and implements lesson plans and daily schedules; maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation guidelines; assesses children's learning and development, and coordinates services and communicates regularly with families.
Job Duties:Develops and implements lesson plans/daily schedules in accordance with guidelines to ensure children are productivity occupied at all times. Maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation standards which includes maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment in the classroom. Supervises and directs Baby Immersion Child Care Providers in daily activities. Assesses children's learning and development. Provides appropriate guidance and support to children. Coordinates services and communicates regularly with families regarding the health and development of the child. Maintains all applicable records. Ability to communicate, use a computer and solve challenging problems with children and parents. Must be able to direct the work of others. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Minimal supervisory responsibility (i.e. lead position).
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
One-year certificate from college or technical school in Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or a Certificate of Mastery in Early Childhood Education or the equivalent amount of college hours in Early Childhood Development/Human and Family Sciences.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional one (1) year of experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must obtain within one month of employment a physical and TB test and maintain the physical annually thereafter. Must obtain Entry Level Child Care Training (ELECT) training within 90 days of employment. Additional specialized training may be required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
