Pittsburgh, PA
About the Job
This position offers an exciting opportunity to have a positive impact on our community by engaging with citizens through trauma informed direct service delivery. The Bachelor's Social Worker (BSW) will work with a team to identify and support individuals whose needs are not met by the traditional Public Safety response paradigm. This position addresses patterns of high utilization for clients who need considerable attention and resources that fall under the People In Need of Support (PINS) program, or are individuals with behavioral health or social support needs. BSW engagements will focus on addressing barriers to consistent care, allocating resources, and treatment that results in a proactive continuum of care. The successful candidate will perform biopsychosocial and crisis assessments, conduct home-visits at the residences of their clients, engage in short term intervention by determining the types of referrals and services indicated, coordinate the provision of referrals and services, and provide on-scene crisis response.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of harm reduction, a focus on empowering individual agency and choice, and experience in case management, crisis intervention, victim support, and mental/behavioral health support. The Bachelor's Social Worker will receive referrals from Public Safety and City government staff and collaborate directly with social service providers and other programs in the Office of Community Health & Safety. Supervision will be provided by the People In Need of Support (PINS) Team Lead and the Social Work Manager to develop client support plans and to foster personal and professional growth. The role of BSWs on-scene will be to provide service provider referrals to those in crisis, conduct ongoing assessments, and ensure that best practices are adhered to. Daily duties will include, but not be limited to, participating in assisted response, following up with frequent callers of 911, conducting case management, and adhering to documentation standards.
