Starting Rate: $20.00/hr, Plus Tip Share Program
Position Overview:
Bakers rise (like our amazing bagels) while others are sleeping to prepare our delicious bagels and bakery treats! They maintain bakery inventory, deliver high quality products, and lead baking processes in the store. This is an early morning shift, beginning 1 to 4 hours prior to store open (varies based on location).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Bakes and/or produces all bakery products as established in Bakery Production Guide
- Prepares bakery and specialty products such as bagels, breads or pastries as directed by the General Manager and the corporate office
- Inspects product during baking process & preparation; including measuring temperatures throughout the preparation process, maintain quality and sanitation in accordance with the FDA and local health departmental codes and Bruegger's Bagels standards
- Inspects finished bakery products in accordance to Bruegger's Bagels standards of quality, weight specification, & presentation
- Ensures enough quality product is available for each shift
- Maintains consistent inventory and flow of bagels
- Works with team members to understand the expectations of bagel products, proper handling, new directives, and customer orders
- Controls product levels to minimize waste
- Helps ensure that the financial budget is met in terms of baking cost of goods
- Practice safe food handling procedures at all times
- Maintains standards of cleanliness, sanitation and safety
- Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment
- Prompt and regular attendance on assigned shifts
Qualification and Skills:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Previous Baker or Cook experience preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
- Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Current Food Handlers Certification preferred
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 15 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Consistently operate bakery machinery such as ovens and mixers
- Mobility required during the entire shift
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight (8) hours in length
- Ability to carry products/boxes and miscellaneous weighing no more than 60 pounds
- Consistently kneel and follow proper lifting procedures
- Frequently stoop and pick up supplies and trash
- Consistently push to open and close door to store and storage shed as well as cooler and freezers
- Consistently lifts for product preparation, stocking and inventory
