Kantishna Roadhouse (KRH) is a full-service, backcountry lodge located 90 miles into the pristine natural wonder of Denali National Park in a remote area where few are lucky enough to travel. Employees at the Roadhouse will find adventure, tranquility and an escape from every-day modern life. The season at Kantishna Roadhouse is approximately from June 3 - September 13 and KRH is seeking candidates available to stay the entire season. Room and board are provided free of charge for this position.
JOB SUMMARY: The Bar Server is responsible for serving local fare and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This position is expected to engage with guests to enhance their experience and maintain a clean and inviting dining room/bar area.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Understand and follow all regulations pertaining to the sale and service of alcohol in the State of Alaska
- Greet customers as they arrive and depart
- Present beverage menu, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding bar service
- Mix and pour beverages; serve them to guests in the bar and dining area
- Order liquors and supplies while maintaining accurate and adequate inventories
- Ensure bar is locked when not in service
- Ensure liquor storage cabinet is locked at all times
- Record accurate beverage orders
- Clean and wipe tables and chairs; vacuum, sweep and mop dining room and bar floors
- Ensure the bar is well-stocked with beverages, glassware, garnishes and supplies
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure seamless service
- Restocks and reset side tables, glassware, silverware, tablecloths and napkins
- Provide dining room service
- Communicate to kitchen staff any dietary or allergy restrictions
- Observes customers to respond to additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
- Split shifts required
- Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION:
- May be responsible for supervising part-time bar employees and dining room staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have a current certification in Alaska to serve alcohol
- Two (2) years bartending experience
- Food Safe Certification
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Kantishna Roadhouse provides a unique and challenging work experience. Each role is physically demanding with staff typically averaging 45-60+ hours per week, especially during the beginning and end of the season. The nature of our business requires every team member to be adaptable and versatile, making each day an exciting opportunity to learn and grow. Due to the Denali Park Road closure, access to Kantishna Roadhouse is by small aircraft only, which means that staff is expected to remain in Denali National Park and Preserve for the duration of the season.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: An individual is on their feet most of the time and often carries heavy trays of glassware, cases of wine and moves heavy kegs of beer from storage to beer cooler (50+ lbs.).
