Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for the smooth running of operations behind the bar. Barbacks offer support to bartending staff in the form of stocking liquors, refilling garnishes, polishing glasses, stacking napkins, bringing glassware back from the dishwasher, helping punch orders into the bar POS, and chatting with customers who have questions. It is a high priority to keep communication very clear and open throughout the Food & Beverage team including management to adhere to Company standards.
Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:
- Assisting with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, and ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
- Ensuring the bar is adequately stocked with all ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
- Checking taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, making minor repairs, or changing out kegs, if needed.
- Keeping the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Learning about menu items and memorizing cocktail recipes.
- Taking orders, preparing drinks, bussing tables, opening tabs, and processing payments especially during peak hours.
- Speaking to customers, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Maintain records and report levels of usage to assist in the reordering process and ensure that delivered items are stored properly.
- Any other duties as assigned
Rate: $15/hour + tips
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English. Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to stay professional in a stressful work environment.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm during the busiest of times
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
