Responsibilities:The Bariatric Coordinator works with Bariatric patients and guides them through the surgical intake and navigation process. Serves as a liaison between the doctors, patients, operating rooms and insurance representatives with the goal of scheduling surgery. Manages patient workup and takes initiative to define and resolve patient/physician issues.
Accountabilities
- Communicates with patient and patient families pre/post operation to provide requirements, route and mail appropriate literature, provide orders and facility maps and answer follow up questions as appropriate
- Works directly with patients to schedule appointments; facilitates insurance authorization; collates workup results and other key paperwork; and assists with the organization and facilitation of other necessary tasks or requirements.
- Conducts community outreach presentations as needed.
- Completes documentation according to Community Health Partners (CHP) standards.
- Coordinates physician(s) schedules at various Community Medical Centers (CMC) facilities ensuring that time is blocked for surgeries.
- Performs various administrative tasks including but, not limited to, screening and taking phone calls/messages, managing denials and appeals and obtaining appropriate authorization, insurance information, pre-operation orders and images for surgery.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
Experience
• 1 year of customer service experience required
• Previous experience within a healthcare environment preferred
• Experience working with Bariatric surgery patients preferred
