Bartender
Job Summary: Prompt and accurate preparation and service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food. Proper collection of cash and charges for all beverages prepared. Maintains bar area in a clean and orderly manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
General
1. Maintain and count cash bank at the beginning of each shift.
2. Properly record all transactions.
3. Follow the daily cleaning schedule as set up by management.
4. Bartenders shall be properly dressed in uniform, well-groomed, and wearing name tag.
5. Bartenders must not smoke or chew gum while at their station.
6. Bartenders shall not consume alcoholic beverages while on hotel premises, whether on duty or not. They may use the hotel facilities by special permission from management only.
7. Bartenders will not serve intoxicated guests. Notify the Manager on Duty, immediately.
8. Bartenders are responsible for the cleaning and stocking of the bar.
9. Bartenders will not serve persons who are under the legal drinking age. If doubtful of age, bartenders should politely ask for proof of individual's age in the form of an I.D. If still doubtful, the bartender should notify the Manager on Duty.
10. If guests become unruly, bartenders shall not attempt to discipline them, but should notify the Manager on Duty who will take care of the situation.
11. Bartenders check waiters and waitresses to ensure that proper prices are being rung up and that correct garnish and glass are being used.
12. Ensure that a shot glass is being used for all bottle poured drinks.
13. Ensure that all guests are promptly and courteously served.
Requisite
REASONING ABILITY: Must have developed reasoning abilities to the point to be able to:
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers; and ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
• Read and interpret business records and statistical reports.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have sufficient computer skills that will allow the individual to be able to use, in a proficient manner, certain Company-issued software programs implemented at the hotel, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Office 365, Company
Microsoft Outlook, Company-issued internet browser programs, and Company-issued electronic mail programs. [NOTE: Company-issued software programs may change from time to time; the individual is required to learn the new programs and upgrades as soon as practicable after such items are provided to the hotel.]
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to see differences in widths and lengths of lines such as those on graphs.
