What this job involves – JLL is currently looking for a highly skilled Building Automation Technician with expertise in Siemens Controls, both new and legacy controls, for a biotech company. This role plays a crucial part in our team as the technician will work closely with the controls team to design innovative HVAC/BAS solutions. This includes developing complex control logic and implementing advanced energy trending. The technician will also be responsible for operating and troubleshooting energy management equipment and managing various software applications. Building effective relationships with stakeholders encountered during work and evaluating alternative approaches and solutions are key aspects of this position. Please note this is a unionized role.
What is your day to day?
- Work closely with our BAS control engineer to tailor a BMS solution that align perfectly within the customer’s or engineer’s requirements, ensuring we exceed customer expectations.
- Strategically work on projects to maintain a consistent workflow and complete the job on time.
- Must be able to understand a sequence of operations. Then be able to understand detailed programming logic with optimal performance and highest efficiency in our industry.
- Diagnose and repair electronic control system malfunctions.
- Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems; keep customers informed on the nature of service provided, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and or repairs.
- Provide training to customers on electronic control systems operations; deliver manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs.
- Compile job documentation, such as certificates of completion, customer training forms, training certificates, and punch lists.
Work Schedule
7AM - 3:30PM, Monday - Friday
Desired experience and technical skills
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent and trade school or apprentice program.
- 5 + years of experience installing and/or servicing electronic control and/or HVAC equipment.
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment, working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in various conditions.
- Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet as well as able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for employer-based sponsorship currently or in the future.
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
Preferred
- Associate degree a plus.
- Experience in working with software applications related to the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital control systems, and ability to test modifications to system software.
- Experience in the integration of low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols, such as BACnet, Modbus, etc.
- Prior experience working in a biopharmaceutical GMP controlled environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) preferred.
- Previous experience working with CMMS system preferably Maximo.
