Summary:
A Drug & Alcohol Facility dedicated to transforming the perception of addiction and behavioral health disorders by bringing dignity and respect to the lives, families and communities they serve.
Offering seven medication assisted treatment programs that utilize individual and group counseling with medical and behavioral health professionals to treat patients, including short-term outpatient detoxification and vocational rehabilitation services
They serves over 4,000 patients across the New York City area.
Type: Full-Time/ PERM
Schedule: 5x8, Monday–Friday, 06:30am-02:30pm
Location: Brooklyn & Manhattan
Responsibilities:
• Assess the needs of patients with co-occurring disorders and other risk factors
• Complete MSEs and utilize other evidence-based assessments to identify patients with co-occurring disorders (either directly or indirectly)
• Complete Risk Assessments (suicide, homicide, etc.) and do appropriate safety planning and notifications
• Initiate evidence-based protocols for co-occurring disorders to patients on their caseloads
• Provide individual and group coaching/training to counseling staff to enhance skills (directly or indirectly; acting as a team leader)
• Provide task supervision for Social Work Interns
• Act as a content resource for complex care coordination
• Act as liaison for IPA referrals and grants
• Perform counseling services including complex care coordination, extended evaluations, and normative psychotherapy, and groups
• Maintain an average caseload of 25 – 30 patients (assuming more complex cases, longer sessions, and coaching responsibilities) based on determination of Clinic Director
• Attend individual and/or group supervision with clinical supervisor
• Attends weekly Case Conferences/Interdisciplinary Team Meetings with counseling staff/Interdisciplinary Team
• Provides coaching and psychoeducation to counseling staff regarding management of high-risk patients on their caseloads
• Maintain accurate and complete case records
• Provide coverage for clinic management based on need
• Responsible for quickly identifying the major legal issues presented in a given set of circumstances, escalating critical issues to Human Resources Leadership and C-Level management as needed
• Occasional travel may be required
• Perform special projects as assigned by clinic management
• Supervision of CASAC Counselors and ensure delivery of behavioral services, overseas case notes and individual case records.
• Studies medical and behavioral histories and provides guidance on bio-psycho-social assessment to the Counselors.
Qualifications:
• LMSW or LCSW with three (3) years of experience in a mental health setting is ideal.
• Experience with individuals with substance use disorder
• Experience working with co-occurring disorders
• Minimum of two years of experience as a staff trainer or treatment supervisor
Evidence of excellent interpersonal relationships, effective English communication skills, (written, oral and interpersonal) ability to problem solve, ability to motivate, develop, and coach individuals and groups, ability to appropriately confront issues, and ability to think creatively.
• Experience in providing and documenting psychological assessments including diagnosis as described in the DSM-IV, establishing therapeutic relationships with individuals, provide direct treatment services and referrals for patients, provide consultation to the treatment staff, and develop research and grant proposals.
• Credential Substance Abuse and Alcoholism Counselor (CASAC) required Possesses a demonstrated ability in delivering patient treatment including: clinical skills, problem solving techniques, specialized training in human services, and an understanding of the psychodynamics of personality and human behavior
• A strong commitment to furthering institutional performance measures through interdisciplinary teamwork is essential.
• Throughout the organization and establish a proactive, result-oriented culture.
