We are currently in search of an experienced Behavioral Health Technician for our Arlington, VA location. The Behavioral Health Technician position at Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health and all of its subsidiaries ("Kolmac" or the "Company") is held by someone who is innovative and committed to learning and developing their counseling skill, working and collaborating with an innovative, inter-disciplinary team. This position requires someone who is invested in patient care and brings a solution-focused attitude and outlook.
Behavioral Health Technicians support the function and operations of the treatment program and the patients we serve. The Behavioral Health Technician ensures the smooth and efficient administration of care while maintaining the quality and integrity of services we provide. This position assists the Counselors, Therapists, and Administrators in setting the tone for the facility to ensure routines and schedules are being followed and met. Behavioral Health Technicians participate in developing and maintaining a therapeutic environment for residents as well as assisting residents in accomplishing treatment goals.
Responsibilities:- Develops a treatment alliance with patients that is mutual, collaborative, and individualized, meeting changing clinical needs throughout treatment
- Assisting in the admissions of patients including orientation, intake assessment, urine screen, protocols, and recurring assessments
- Positively interact with patients at all times and provides support through case management, morning contacts with patients during their dosing and programming, and encourage patient engagement
- Facilitating program activities, and assisting in maintaining patients’ schedules
- Facilitates addiction and/or mental health psychotherapy groups in OTP, IOP, and OP
- Provides individual mental health-focused and addictions-focused counseling sessions when indicated
- Prepares and presents addiction/recovery education presentations to all patients
- Engages in case management sessions, including collaborative treatment goals, discharge planning, partnership with referral sources and/or other providers
- Promotes the organizations image in a positive and professional manner
- Is expected to provide direct care more than 50-65% of weekly work hours
- Works with medical staff, clinical staff, and clinical supervisor to meet the co-occurring psychiatric needs of patients
- Responsible for maintaining timely and well written documentation that meets state and CARF standards
- Responsible for obtaining signatures from licensed therapist/supervisor for documents requiring a second signature
- Attends and is prepared for professional meetings, including treatment team
- Completes discharges within 48 hours of patient completing services
- Assisting as needed in Crisis Intervention
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong clinical, verbal, and writing skills
- Is engaging with patients, while promoting and maintaining accountability

- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a program that will grow and expand over the next several years
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in the SUD and MH field. Group psychotherapy experience preferred, but not required
- Experience and comfort with working in an electronic medical record
- Knowledgeable in various recovery modalities, including SMART Recovery, Women for Sobriety, 12-Step, Recovery Dharma, etc
- Knowledgeable in various psychotherapy modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, co-occurring disorders, etc.)
Licenses and Other Required Credentials:
- Master’s degree in human services field (Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Behavioral, etc.)

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $21 a hour to $22 a hour. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, licensure, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
