Position Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Behavioral Services. This position is responsible for providing behavioral training and education to the employees of RSI interacting with the clients of RSI that have developmental disabilities. This position will train, supervise, or assist in appropriate expression of emotions and desires, compliance, assertiveness, acquisition of socially appropriate behaviors, the reduction of inappropriate behaviors, assists in planning treatment sessions, putting together necessary materials, and maintains communications with case managers and BQIS (through e-mails, meetings, and telephone calls).
Reports To: Director of Behavioral Services
Experience and Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in psychology, special education or social work;
- Meet the State of Indiana’s definition to provide Level 2 clinician behavioral support services (pursuant to 460 IAC 6-5-4 (c)(1));
- Four (4) years of work-related
- experience, at least one (1) of which is in the field of developmental disabilities.
Competency/Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of developing behavioral support plans.
- Knowledge of ISP’s.
- Experience in developing and conducting training.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in the field of education and/or training.
- Obtain “at least” ten (10) hours of continuing education hours related to the practice of behavioral support in accordance with the State of Indiana’s criteria, set forth by 460 IAC 6-5-4 (d).
Working Environment: Office and field.
Position Physical Requirements:
Position requires the ability to walk, sit, stand; lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted and 350 pounds with assistance; squat, bend, reach and stretch.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Observe clients and their environment for purposes of development of a plan to determine baseline
- Obtain consensus of the Individualized Support Team that the behavioral support plan is feasible for implementation
- Train in assertiveness
- Train in stress reduction techniques
- Train in the acquisition of socially accepted behaviors
- Train staff, family members, roommates, and other appropriate individuals on the implementation of the behavioral support plan
- Consult with team members
- Consult with HSPP
- Maintain client files so they are in compliance with BQIS regulations
- Develop behavioral support assessments for clients
- Create waiver participant status monthly summaries
- Other duties as assigned.
