About the Job
The Benefits Analyst will be responsible for the administration and communication of all US and Canadian health and welfare benefit and retirement programs. This position will provide support for day-to-day benefit management, including new hire onboarding, annual open enrollment, leave of
absence coordination, benefit inquiries, system updates, benefit analytics and reporting. This position must deliver superior customer service to all plan participants and resolve issues in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have strong benefit knowledge, technical skills, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, sound judgement, and ability to work in a complex shared services environment and across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:
- Provide support to employees regarding all benefit related questions and concerns, either directly or through benefit service providers.
- Act as the liaison between employees and insurance companies to resolve any escalated benefit related issues and conduct root cause analysis to determine impact and preventative measures for identified issues.
- Process and manage supplemental life/portability/death claims, retirement plan contributions/loans/withdrawals, and errors with benefit vendors and Payroll.
- Develop employee benefit processes and help with active communications, targeted letters/emails/inserts and employee benefit materials.
- Confirm health and welfare plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed. Support in all enrollment efforts for new hires, annual open enrollment, acquisitions, qualified event changes and terminations.
- Aid with preparing, communicating, tracking and following-up with new hire, rehire, annual open enrollment, acquisition, qualified event and terminations for employees.
- Review, process and/or approve all qualified event changes and qualified medical support orders.
- Complete and track COBRA enrollments and reimbursements in Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Coordinate efforts with internal and external resources to provide support to employees during annual open enrollment. Manage and maintain the benefit portion of HRIS and employee record systems.
- Test new benefits set-up within HRIS, including employee and employer rates, auto enrollment and dependency rules, and user navigation.
- Validate benefit recordkeeping and any benefit related payroll maintenance including adjustments/special payments, reconciliations and validation of deductions.
- Ensure SPDs and all related benefit material and programs are up to date and posted.
- Scan and upload all benefit related materials, employee elections, change requests, dependent verification documents, ancillary claims, loans and withdrawals into the employee record keeping systems. Conduct analysis and provide feedback on all benefit offerings and processes.
- Compiles, analyzes and reports benefit data including employee, benefit plan and financial analysis for Benefit's strategic planning, best practices and benchmark surveys.
- Conduct routine audit and analysis of benefit plans to ensure compliance with government regulations, competitiveness within the industry based on benchmark data, and data integrity within HRIS.
- Maintain working knowledge of all plan summary plan descriptions, certificates of coverage and other plan documents in order to make recommendations for implementing new programs/communications/campaigns and training.
- Implement process improvements that result in an improved employee experience and reduce/eliminate errors and waste.
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of COBRA, ERISA, PPACA and related state and federal benefit regulations with strong knowledge if company HR/Benefit policies, processes and programs.
- Technically savvy and proficient in multiple software programs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word and Power Point), HRIS systems and the Internet.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize within a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work activities, manage time efficiently and possess a strong sense of urgency.
- Must possess exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
- Ability to work effectively with different roles and personalities in all levels of the organization.
- Handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
