About the Job
Our client, a leading provider of urgent care and primary care services, has an immediate opening for a Benefits Specialist. This role will be responsible for overseeing employee benefits, employee leave, and HR special projects with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.Responsibilities:
- Oversee and improve benefit processes; maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR and benefit laws to lead efforts in benefits compliance
- Proactively communicate benefit offerings; provide training to employees in both clinics and corporate locations
- Independently oversee new hire enrollments, orientations, annual open enrollment, status changes, and terminations
- In partnership with the Director, Human Resources, collaborate with brokers, vendors, and insurance companies to manage plan summaries, invoicing, and renewals
- Audit benefit enrollment reports and/or bills to ensure accuracy, serve as the primary contact for insurance claim dispute resolution, and oversee payment processing for all benefit invoices
- Serve as initial contact for employee leave requests; accurately track leave requests for reporting purposes
- Process leaves of absence according to both state and federal law including STD, LTD, FMLA, PFML, Sabbaticals, Jury Duty, Parental Leave, etc.
- Maintain accurate records for accommodation requests in accordance with legal requirements
- Oversee multi-state unemployment claims; respond to requests and participate in appeals as needed
- Manage the return-to-work process for all leaves of absence; ensure all systems and reporting are properly updated
- Identify opportunities for improvement in existing operations; partner with cross functional teams as needed to implement improvement solutions
- Create and analyze standard HR reports, respond to ad-hoc reporting requests as-needed
- Assist in the review, testing, and implementation of HR technology upgrades
- Support new and ongoing human resources special projects (compensation, performance management, engagement, diversity, etc.)
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Five (5) or more years of proven experience administering employee benefits and leaves of absence
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources/business administration or equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience
- Strong computer skills including MS Office suite and Smartsheet
- 3+ years of experience using and optimizing ADP Workforce Now; proficiency using ADP for tracking payroll changes and benefit deductions
- Exceptional attention to detail with an ability to complete all work with a high level of accuracy; strong organizational skills
- In-depth knowledge of employee benefits plans including health insurance, 401k (including audits), dental, disability, life, vision, and ancillary benefits
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- General understanding of payroll and accounting functions, specifically related to their interaction with benefits
- Excellent customer services skills; strong initiative to follow-up on pending/open items
- Able to successfully complete all pre-employment screenings/activities in a timely manner
