POSITION SUMMARY:
The Benefits and Wellness Coordinator role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing wellness programs and supporting the associate benefit enrollment process. The role works to develop and maintain wellness programs that promote employee health and well-being throughout the OSJL footprint. The Benefit and Wellness Coordinator position plays an important role in helping associates to stay healthy and productive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer a comprehensive wellness program throughout a multi-state company, including, but not limited to, identifying monthly wellbeing topics, coordinating with external vendors, and promoting wellness programs to associates. Significant duties include exercising discretion in selecting programming to focus on mental, social, financial and physical health.
- Craft written communication to differing audiences detailing upcoming wellness events, including, but not limited to, flu vaccine clinics, blood drives, and health screenings.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment through the planning and coordinating classes, speakers, seminars, personal training, and fitness assessments that promote healthy lifestyles.
- Track associate participation in Company benefits and wellness programs, as well as reporting on the results of these programs to leadership.
- Proactively provide associates with information about their benefits and Company-wide wellness programs through avenues such as podcasts, internal newsletters, email, digital boards, and Google Sites.
- Act in a backup capacity for the administration of associate benefits, including, but not limited to, enrolling new associates in benefits, processing benefit changes, and answering associate questions about their benefits.
- Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolutions.
- Resolve administrative issues with the carrier representatives of new and existing benefits.
- Manage the rollout and presentation of new benefit programs to Field Trainers and store associates.
- Periodic travel and some evening and/or weekend work is required during seasonal times depending on the needs of the business. Off-site events may include, but are not limited to, luncheons, award events, and wellbeing-related community events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associates degree in business administration or human resources is preferred.
- 1 or more years of experience in a human resources environment is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, clean driving record and auto insurance.
- A passion for wellbeing, company culture and creating a unique and differentiated associate experience is required.
- Must be able to comprehend English; at minimum, a conversational proficiency in a secondary language is preferred.
- Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees is preferred.
- Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential. - Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
- Work may be completed outside of the company locations. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. While working remotely, the role will be required to have reliable Internet connection.

The salary range for this position is between $21.00 - $24.00 / hour. Salary commensurates with experience.
