Beverage Specialist
Job Purpose
Job Summary
This role is responsible for increasing customer confidence and loyalty by providing courteous and prompt service, consistent operating conditions and a friendly atmosphere. This position will drive sales by offering information and guidance to customers and serving beer and wine while customers shop throughout the stores.

Sells alcoholic beverages according to the standards of both the law and our company. Checks identification for age verification, identifying customers who should not be served additional alcohol and monitoring customers to assist in the prevention of open containers leaving the store.

Operational Excellence
Maintains first-rate retail operations standards throughout the department. Stocks, rotates department products daily, and conducts date checks to ensure freshness of products in accordance with specialized date checking processes. Ensures fresh department discard transactions are performed daily. Restocks and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost. Operates department equipment and tools and ensure they are working appropriately. Monitors machines ensuring enough soda syrup, ice and coffee are available. Ensures signs, prices, and shelf labels are accurate and maintained in all departments. Conducts test scans on categories of merchandise to ensure price accuracy, description, department and taxability. Maintains a well merchandised area and maintains plan-o-grams. Keeps work area clean, orderly and free from safety hazards. Reports faulty equipment and hazards to management.

Customer Experience
Prepares beverages for store patrons, including beer and wine. Completes sales of cups for customers to use for hot and cold drinks. Advises customers on wine, beer and coffee selections and storage. Maintains an efficient and organized method of receiving and processing customer orders. Provides continuous attention to customer needs; greets, assists and thanks customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner. Offers product suggestions when appropriate. Use Product knowledge to encourage more food purchases and repeat store visits. Processes customer checkout transactions swiftly and accurately and receive payments by cash, check, debit/credit cards and vouchers. Maintains control over register, and ensure drawer is in balance with total customer receipts.

Additional Requirements: FSLS Beverage Specialist
Assists in managing pricing integrity to company standards. Resolves pricing problems and price file discrepancies. Supports WD Store Manager in managing target inventory levels and balancing the weekly purchase summaries and maintains records of inventory, invoices, etc., for the store. Enforces store receiving protocols; follows security procedures and control the flow of vendor traffic through the backroom receiving doors during appropriate operating hours. Ensures proper receipt and inspection of DSD merchandise, reviews weekly purchase reports and adjustments, and control inventory levels. Oversees pickup of excess goods and conduct periodic inspections to ensure proper storage. Processes reclaim, damaged and spoiled products according to company policy. Controls the level of unsellable goods. Ensures reclaim is being scanned out daily. Performs inventory transfers with inventory management for all store to store and department to department transfers. Reviews order exceptions and update orders accordingly.
